Uluwatu Temple become One of the Most Visited Destinations in Bali
The area around Uluwatu Temple, Badung Regency, becomes one of tourists’ favorite tourism objects in the island of Gods. It is shown by getting the second most visited destination from both domestic and foreign tourists after Tanah Lot in Tabanan Regency.Based on the data of Department of Tourism Bali Province, the number of tourists visited Uluwatu Temple in 2013 was 820,999 people consisted of 498,070 foreign tourists and 322,929 domestics, while in Tanah Lot reached up three millions visitors.
The visitors of beautiful natural scenery in the area of Uluwatu keep increasing since previously recorded 803,567 people.
“Uluwatu Temple, located 30 km South of Denpasar, or 15 km from Ngurah Rai Airport, has its own attraction, as the cliff filled with bushes is guarded by hundreds of monkeys that are tame and protected by the local people,” said Nyoman Putra, a tourist guide.
The Hindus shrine stands enormously at 97 meters height above the sea level on steep and high cliff and expose to the sea, located on the South West corner of Bali Island, this becomes the attraction for every tourist visiting the place.
The temple location is very beautiful and sophisticated, since it is on a cliff facing directly to the ocean. This situation makes Uluwatu Temple that was built around the eleventh century is more sacred.
The steep and high cliff in this temple is a perfect place to see the sunset in the west. The tourists will be happy to see sunset combines with the sea scenery and prosperous waves.
