It has an area of 841.8 km2 and a population of 261,618 at the 2010 Census. Its regency seat is Negara.

Story

Based on archaeological evidence can be interpreted that the emergence of community in Jembrana since 6000 years ago. From a semiotic perspective, the origin of the name of a place or region refers to the names of the fauna and flora

The emergence of Jembrana name is derived from wilderness areas (Jimbar-Wana) who inhabited the king snake (Dragon-King). The properties of the mythological mention the names of places have been a tradition through stories passed down through generations among the population. 

Based on folklore and oral tradition that emerged has inspired among the builders of traditional institutions of power (the king and kingdom)
